A Puzzle: the Nature of the Photon

The photon is not the simple and tame light particle as first seems. Given the chance, this electromagnetic gauge boson will also behave as a vector meson in hadronic interactions, as a point-like direct photon or even be resolved into partons in hard scattering. Is it then one and the same? An experimental review of the observations will be presented.
