Particle and Astroparticle PhysicsResults from the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) ExperimentHugh LippincottUC Santa BarbaraThe nature of dark matter is one of the biggest mysteries in physics today. In this talk, I’ll describe the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment, a dark matter detector centered on a 7 active tonne liquid xenon time projection chamber at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in Lead, SD including results from our first science run. If there is time, I will touch on an idea to extend the reach of LZ to new dark matter space that is the subject of active R&D.
