Experimental HEP SeminarThe Double Chooz Neutrino Oscillation ExperimentLeslie CamilleriColumbiaDouble Chooz is an experiment searching for anti-electron neutrino oscillations in order to measure or set an upper limit on θ13, the one angle contributing to the neutrino oscillation matrix that is yet unmeasured. The search will be described in the context of the present knowledge of neutrino oscillations. The experiment uses deviations from the predicted energy distribution of the antineutrino flux from a nuclear power station in northern France to signal oscillations. The detector, the sources of background and the sources of systematic uncertainties, mostly those arising from the knowledge of the energy distribution of the antineutrino flux, will be described.
