Joint Astrophysics Colloquium
Suzanne Talon CERCA Convection is certainly the area of stellar hydrodynamics which has received the mostr attention. In this talk however, I will lay emphasis on other mechanisms, which could be of matching importance in stellar evolution. I will first review some of the stellar properties which are not yet well reproduced by stellar models. I will then show how simplified hydrodynamical models can be used in order to reduce the observed abundance discrepencies and to get some insight as to how angular momentum can be redistributed in stars. I will then present detailed numerical simulations of several yet to be understood processes of importance to stellar modelling like meridional circulation, semi-convection and large scale circulation in a binary star.
