Scott Pratt Michigan State University Heavy ion collisions at RHIC are expected to produce novel states of matter where return to a normal hadronic state is delayed several fm/c. In such a scenario the production of many charges (electric, strange and baryonic) is delayed until hadronization which results in balancing charge/anti-charge pairs being more correlated with one another. In this talk I describe howbalance functions can identify such pairs statistically and how this can be related to the question of delayed hadronization. I also discuss exciting new measurements of the balance function from the STAR collaboration.
