C.S. Lam McGill University Probability is the only exact conservation law in quantum mechanics violated in perturbation theory. This violation of unitarity is particularly serious for strongly interacting systems. An improved perturbation theory will be discussed in which unitarity is maintained at every order, and illustrated with examples in quantum mechanics, and in quantum field theories for strong, electromagnetic, and weak interactions.
