An Excursion in the Dark Side of the Universe

Ludo van Waerbeke

UBC

Since it was first observed in 2000, weak lensing has developed quickly to become a legitimate part of the standard toolset to study the Universe. In this talk I will start by reminding how weak lensing can constrain the dark side of the Universe, dark matter and dark energy, and why this tool is complementary to the other probes, cosmic microwave background radiation and supernovae of type Ia. I will review the present state of weak lensing and its expectations, hopes and limitations for the next decade, in the context of future ground and space based cosmology missions.
