Einstein-Cartan Theory as an Averaged Theory of Gravity

Juliane Behrend

U. Utrecht

In this talk I will elaborate on the idea of using torsion to describe the averaging effects of inhomogeneities in a macroscopic theory of gravity. In our approach we start from the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR) and formulate the averaged theory as Einstein-Cartan theory. This theory is assumed to describe the universe on large scales.
