Siegel Modular Forms and Black Hole Entropy

Alex Belin

University of Amsterdam

I will discuss the application of Siegel Modular Forms to black hole entropy counting. Building on the lessons learned from stringy examples (such as the D1D5P system) where a precise microscopic counting of the black hole entropy can be conducted, I will show that Siegel Modular Forms possess a set of properties that make them good candidates to be counting black hole microstates. I will show that they can account for the leading order piece of the black hole entropy, the area term, but also how one can easily extract the subleading logarithmic corrections using the technology of modular forms.
