Backreaction on the luminosity-redshift relation from gauge-invariant light-cone averaging

We apply a recently proposed gauge-invariant formulation of light-cone averaging, together with adapted “geodesic light cone” coordinates, to show the general emergence of a “backreaction” from correlations between the measured observable and the correct covariant integration measure. We then apply these general considerations to compute, to leading order, the backreaction on the luminosity-redshift relation for a realistic stochastic spectrum of inhomogeneities of primordial (inflationary) origin.
