Quantum bounces and real time quantum cosmology

It is worthwhile to study the effects of semi-classically combining general relativity with the principles of quantum theory in the search for quantum gravity. In this talk I will show how the framework of the Lorentzian path integral can be well defined using Picard-Lefshetz theory. As an illustration of its application I will discuss homogenous quantum transitions during an inflationary phase and a possible resolution of the Big Bang singularity.
