Secret neutrino interactions with ultralight dark matter

Jim Cline

Neutrino oscillation experiments provide hints for oscillations with a sterile neutrino of mass ~ 1 eV and mixing angle ~ 0.1, but these values are strongly excluded by cosmology. “Secret interactions” of the sterile neutrino were invented as a way of suppressing the oscillations in the early universe, but have proven not work well enough. Here I show that coupling it to ultralight bosonic dark matter provides a robust way to do the job.
