Dynamics of the string theory landscape

Senarath de Alwis

Perimeter Institute & Colorado University

There are two possible mechanisms for populating the string theory landscape. One arises from considerations of quantum cosmology and the other from brane nucleation processes. The first is usually associated with a dynamical selection principle and the second with anthropic (or environmental) selection. I discuss both of these and in particular evaluate how they might be realized in string theory.
