Cosmic inflation through time

Ghazal Geshnizjani

Perimeter Institute

I will first discuss the early time cosmic inflation which has so far proved to be very successful in explaining cosmological observations and while is not easy to verify or rule out with certainty due to the lack of an underlying theory, presents an outstanding opportunity to probe fundamental theories at very high energies that otherwise might be very hard to test in accelerators. I will then briefly discuss the late time inflation of the universe, the challenges theorist face to explain it and whether early time inflation has consequences for the late time inflation.
