Theory HEP SeminarChaos in String TheoryArchisman GhoshUniversity of KentuckyUsing analytical methods for dynamical systems we show that the dynamics of classical strings in a class of confining geometries is nonintegrable. Examples include the frequently quoted QCD-like models of string theory such as the Klebanov-Strassler, Maldacena-Nunez and AdS soliton geometries. A numerical investigation reveals that the dynamics is, in addition, chaotic. It shows a transition to chaos typical of chaotic Hamiltonian systems. We have started looking at the quantum dynamics of such systems and would like to understand its implication on the spectrum of hadronic matter.
