The weak gravity conjecture and its implications in AdS/CFT

The weak gravity conjecture states that in any consistent theory of quantum gravity the gravitational force should somehow be the weakest force.

In this talk I will motivate this statement using physical arguments based on black holes and global symmetries and I will introduce a more precise version of the conjecture. In the last part I will generalize the weak gravity conjecture to AdS space in order to test it against the most tractable definition of quantum gravity: the AdS/CFT correspondence.
