Entanglement entropy and conformal field theory

Yan Gobeil

McGill

In this talk, I will discuss one of the most well known contributions of John Cardy: the computation of entanglement entropy in conformal field theory. I will start by reviewing some properties of 2d CFT and path integrals. Then I will introduce the replica trick and explain the use of twist operators to compute entanglement entropies. I will finally use this technology to compute explicitly some examples, such as a single interval and non-critical models.
