Theory HEP SeminarHolographic Non Fermi LiquidsDiego HofmanHarvard UniversityWe will discuss possible applications of the AdS/CFT correspondence to Condensed Matter physics. In particular, it is of great interest to understand certain systems whose dynamics is controlled by a strongly coupled quantum critical point. Here, holographic techniques can give us a window into non fermi liquid behavior similar to what is observed in the strange metal phase of cuprates and heavy fermion systems. We will explore the relevant physical observables for different holographic setups, including the charged black hole background and the electron star. Emphasis will be on the explicit inclusion of magnetic fields and fermionic probes.
