Signatures of phase transition from transport model calculations for intermediate energy heavy ion collisions

There is an enormous amount of experimental and theoretical work on liquid-gas phase transition in heavy ion collisions at intermediate energy. In theoretical studies, one assumes statistical equilibrium and then considers multifragmentation at constant volume (most prevalent assumption) or at constant pressure. It is always debatable which assumption is correct. We perform transport model calculations (it bypasses all such assumptions) for central collisions of mass 120 on mass 120 at laboratory beam energy in the range 20 MeV/nucleon to 200 MeV/nucleon. The calculations produce clusters. The distribution of clusters provides evidence of phase transition.
