Anti-brane dynamics in flux compactifications

Stefano Massai

Chicago

I will review recent progress in the study of anti-brane dynamics in warped flux compactifications and the quest for long-lived metastable vacua in string theory. In particular, I will describe the fully backreacted solution for the anti-branes and their infrared dynamics on the deformed conifold, with focus on certain tachyonic modes and their implications for the stability of the landscape. I will comment on the interpretation of the anti-brane configuration as a supersymmetry-breaking vacuum of the dual Klebanov-Strassler field theory and on the holographic identification of the goldstino mode.
