New Results in Gravity Duals of Cascading Chern-Simons Theories

Peter Ouyang

Purdue University

I will describe recent progress in understanding a class of dualities between three dimensional supersymmetric gauge theories and four dimensional gravity duals. The gauge theories are related to the ABJM superconformal field theories, and the gravity duals suggest a variety of interesting phenomena, including duality cascades and supersymmetry breaking. Moreover, I will present arguments that orbifolds of the deformed Stenzel cone (a Calabi-Yau fourfold similar to the deformed conifold) admit fractional branes.
