A Search for the Rare Decay B->τ+τ- at the BaBar Experiment

Chris Potter

University of Oregon

I will present the results of the search for the rare decay B→τ+τ- in a data sample of (232 ± 3) × 106 Υ(4S) → B B at the BaBar experiment. Many extensions of the Standard Model (SUSY and Leptoquarks) predict enhancements of this decay. In this challenging search, one neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in a hadronic final state and evidence for the signal decay is sought in the recoiling system. The result constrains third-generation leptoquark coupling for the first time.
