Towards a microscopic description of the Kerr/CFT correspondence

Wei Song

Harvard

Kerr/CFT correspondence is the conjectured holographic duality between gravity in the near horizon region of extremal Kerr black hole (NHEK) and a two dimensional conformal field theory (CFT). Various evidence has confirmed the existence of the dual CFT. Embedding into string theory will further help to understand the microscopic structure.

In this talk, we focus on a family of spinning M5 brane solutions that interpolate NHEK and AdS_3 x S2 smoothly. The dual CFT of the later is known. Studying the deformation of this CFT will lead to an understanding of the dual CFT of Kerr. We will describe the deviation at the linear order, and make some comments on finite deformations.
