Results in 2D causal set quantum gravity

I will discuss some preliminary numerical results for a continuum inspired dynamics of 2D causal set theory. Using a parameter resembling the inverse temperature, one obtains a “Wick-rotated” thermodynamic partition function without changing the space of configurations. Simulations show the existence of a continuum phase and in addition, the appearance of a new “crystalline” or non-continuum phase. These phases are characterised via covariant observables like spacetime-dimension, time-like distance, energy, and time-asymmetry amongst others. Moreover, the transition temperature varies monotonically with a non-locality parameter which governs the dynamics, thus suggesting that the continuum phase can survive the analytic continuation.
