The gauge dual of Romans mass

Alessandro Tomasiello

Harvard University

The Romans mass parameter is a flux parameter of IIA. It ruins our otherwise perfect understanding of string duality: it has no dual in M-theory. In this talk, we are going to consider it from another perspective: via the AdS/CFT correspondence, which has recently become accessible for three-dimensional conformal field theory using Chern-Simons-matter actions. Our results on the CFT3 side will also allow us to predict new classes of interesting string theory vacua with Romans mass; we will partially confirm that prediction via a perturbative analysis.
