Einstein Gravity: a random walk
Department of Physics University of California, Santa
Barbara
This talk, based on my textbook on Einstein gravity, consists of a random walk
through an assortment of topics, from historical anecdotes to pedagogical
tidbits. My focus is on the amusing, the violent, the little known, the
rarely mentioned, and the long forgotten. The talk is aimed at advanced
undergraduates and above; I do not assume mastery of general relativity. In
particular, I comment in passing on contemporary Brazilian cinema.
