PHYS 181 - Everyday Physics

PHYS 181 - Everyday Physics A course to examine the day-to-day physics behind the materials and phenomena around us. Demonstrations of the intriguing properties of materials and the simple physical theories explaining them. The course will be divided into thirteen weeks with a different topic for each week throughout the semester, including:
  • Mechanical properties of food and cells
  • Colour in materials
  • Flowing fluids
  • Materials that are mostly surface
  • Electricity and density fluctuations in the Earth's atmosphere
  • Semi-conductor physics and its application to popular music
  • Crystallization and broken symmetry
  • Ice physics
  • Energy flow in living organisms
and more!
